The workflow models developed at LaserPacific revolutionized and continue to lead the way that entertainment is finished.   LaserPacific was created in 1991 by the merger of Pacific Video and Spectra Systems; unique companies that made important contributions to the advancement of post production technology. Bringing together some of the most gifted technical and operational leaders, LaserPacific became an industry model. Over the last twenty years, LaserPacific’s management and engineering teams have been recognized as the most expert group at introducing technological solutions to Hollywood.   The last twenty years of post production provides a roadmap to the development of processes, all pioneered at LaserPacific, that are now fully integrated into the industry’s post production methodology. The Electronic Laboratory™ became the primary force in the television industry’s transition from analog, film-based methods to an entirely new way of thinking incorporating electronic and digital post production technologies. The Electronic Laboratory™ brought LaserPacific its first Emmy Award for Engineering Excellence. Five others have followed, including kudos for the SuperComputer™ Assembly System. The latest two recognize LaserPacific’s conceptualization and implementation of the 24P high definition post production system. After the launch of LaserPacific’s High Definition Laboratory in 1998, it became the industry’s undisputed leader in the delivery of high definition services.   Along with its clients, LaserPacific has also made significant contributions to both the art and science of DVD. The work at LaserPacific is repeatedly recognized in the trade and consumer press as some of the world’s most compelling examples of DVD authoring and encoding. The DVDs created at LaserPacific have consistently won awards and exemplify state-of-the-art digital multimedia content creation. The development of the Multimedia Division is indicative of the visionary perspective guiding LaserPacific, springing from its early pioneering work in laserdisc technology to its creation of one of the world’s first practical digital compression facilities. LaserPacific now plays an integral part in the motion picture process from the beginning of photography in dailies digital preview, digital intermediate, all the way to the home video delivery elements, as well as through delivery directly to cinemas in collaboration with Kodak Digital Cinema.
