 The new HBO comedy Eastbound and Down stars Danny McBride (The Footfist Way, Pineapple Express) and is the latest project from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions. It tells the story of Kenny Powers, a burned out major league relief pitcher who returns to his hometown, Shelby, North Carolina, to teach physical education at the middle school he once attended. LaserPacific's VFX team was asked to enhance some baseball shots. In one scene, actor Craig Robinson (The Office) has a baseball thrown at his face. Obviously this couldn't actually happen, so some VFX wizardry was required to composite a computer-generated baseball into the scene instead of an actual baseball.
