Now in its second season, Greek was added to ABC Family's line up last year and continues to resonate with its audience as it delves into the issues that face young adults today. In trying to redefine the meaning of family, show creator Patrick Sean Smith has said that Greek represents a new variation of family; "Blood family is one thing but ... friendship family is just as valid and just as important."
With a strong "family" bond, the characters in Greek explore the social relationships and stress of fraternity life. College is the connective tissue for people from completely opposite backgrounds and personalities. Greek highlights many points of view and college experiences from homosexuality, pre-marital sex, friendships, betrayal, strong religious views, and ultimately the growth to accept each other's lifestyles without judgment. Shot on Super 16mm film by cinematographer Jules Labarthe, this show's negative is processed each day at LaserPacific's Film Laboratory. After telecine, LaserPacific provides dailies that are delivered directly to the cutting room each day as digitized files for input into the edit system. After SuperComputer2.0 with Nitris assembly, the show is color timed by LaserPacific colorist Ted Brady. Brady works closely with cinematographer Jules Labarthe, who takes time from the busy show shooting schedule to help direct the show's rich look.
