Steven Poster and Dave Cole work together again on Spread

spread_stillIn Spread, Scottish director David Mackenzie (Hallam FoeYoung Adam) tells the story of Nikki, a handsome sexual grifter in modern day Los Angeles, played by Ashton Kutcher, who was also a producer on the movie. Anne Heche plays a middle-aged, wealthy attorney who is one of his clients. To his surprise, Nikki finds himself falling for Heather, a beautiful waitress played by Margarita Levieva. To enhance the film's feel of decadence and of a life based on glamorous Hollywood parties and swimming pools, David Mackenzie turned to cinematographer Steven Poster, ASC.

Spread is one of three movies on which Poster has worked with LaserPacific's senior colorist Dave Cole, the others being Southland Tales and The Box, both directed by acclaimed independent director Richard Kelly. Dave and Steven will also be working together shortly on Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. Steven Poster describes the benefit of working with Dave Cole, "I'm always one to walk on an edge and push the technology a little further than it should be so to have the back up of saying 'Dave, what do you think?' is an extraordinary tool for any DP to have."

Spread premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in January and will be released by Anchor Bay Entertainment on August 14th 2009.
