Twilight

LaserPacific contributes to the creepy, rich look of Twilight

In the small town of Forks, Washington, Bella Swan is about to meet her true soul mate.  There's just one problem.  Her one true love is the mysterioustwilight-pic and dazzling Edward Cullen, whose incredible strength, speed, and piercing eyes hide a deep secret.  A modern, visual, and visceral Romeo and Juliet story of the ultimate forbidden love affair - between vampire and mortal - Twilight delivers edge of the seat excitement.  This film asks the provocative question - "Will true love prevail when Edward is forced to save Bella's life and conquer his unnatural thirst?" From the first day of dailies and previews to the edgy, creepy, but ultimately rich look that LaserPacific Senior DI colorist, Dave Cole helped the filmmakers create, this film is a great example of why so many filmmakers are asking LaserPacific to be involved with their project from Day One right through trailers and digital cinema delivery. Although LaserPacific did not do the final DI color grading, we were proud to contribute to the stunning look of this hugely popular movie.

From the novel written by best selling author Stephenie Meyer, Twilight was released by Summit Entertainment and was directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Lords of Dogtown, Thirteen and The Nativity Story). Catherine Hardwicke again turned to her trusted cinematographer Elliot Davis with whom she has collaborated on all the films she has directed. During production, Hardwicke and Davis had a very strong idea of how the finished film would look and wanted everyone involved in the production to see that edgy, creepy, rich look in the dailies. For LaserPacific, that meant that rather than just a simple dailies transfer, the colorist had to spend a lot of time finessing the look, including using many of the tools, such as trackable windows, that would usually only be utilized in the final digital intermediate grading.
