Transatlantic Portal

Reviewing suite at LaserPacific allows Cinesite Europe to screen VFX shots for their Los Angeles based clients.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Kodak like LaserPacific, Cinesite Europe (www.cinesite.com) is one of the largest full-service VFX facilities in the world. With a history of excellence in visual effects and digital imaging, Cinesite has built a major operation in and around London, with offices in Soho, Pinewood Studios and Shepperton Studios. By working closely with LaserPacific, Cinesite can now produce visual effects shots in London that can be reviewed in Hollywood in a timely manner using the Transatlantic Portal.

LaserPacific and Cinesite are connected via Sohonet's Freeway International service which is a direct connection between Los Angeles and London (www.sohonet.co.uk). Sohonet provides a high speed private network linking a wide range of companies within the entertainment industry and enables worldwide collaboration on a wide variety of projects.

The suite is a fully functional digital projection reviewing room. It contains an Assimilate Scratch system that is capable of 2K playback and digital color grading. Iridas FrameCycler DI is also installed for conforming and editing with remote review link collaboration. The screen size is approximately 6 feet high by 11 feet (1:85) or 14 feet (2:35) with vertical and horizontal masking.
